专业培养目标:本专业培养适应社会发展需要的德智体全面发展,具有创新精神和实践能力的地理科学人才。毕业生在具备扎实的地质基础上,能够熟练掌握地理科学的基本理论、方法及实践技能,熟悉古气候和古环境重建、遥感、地理信息系统、人文等地球表层系统领域的基本理论和技能。毕业后,一部分免试推荐或考取至科研机构及高等院校攻读硕士学位或者进行硕-博连读;另一部分能够在相关领域从事教学、科研、生产应用、技术开发及管理等工作。
专业毕业要求
1.本专业学生具有扎实的数理化、外语、地球科学基础和计算机技能;掌握一门外语,具备听、说、读、写及对外交流的能力,达到能独立获取信息的水平;具有计算机软、硬件的基础知识,掌握一门以上计算机语言的编程技术。
2.掌握自然地理科学理论、知识和技能,具备从事地球表层系统的基础理论研究、应用研究、分析实验和数据处理等工作的基本能力。
3.能熟练将计算机文字、图形、数据等处理技术应用于地理科学的实际研究工作。
毕业要求及实现途径
主干学科:自然地理学、人文地理学、遥感与地理信息系统、环境科学、地质学。
专业核心课程:自然地理学、普通地质学、地貌学与第四纪地质学、环境科学概论、遥感概论、地理信息系统、生态地理学、海洋学基础、岩石矿物学、地层古生物学、构造地质学、土壤化学、全球变化等。
主要专业实验:遥感应用技术实验、地理信息系统技术实验。
主要实践性教学环节:包括野外教学实习(北戴河地质认知实习、周口店和秭归地质教学实习、秭归地理专业实习)、毕业生产实习、毕业论文撰写等,一般安排20周左右。
修业年限:四年。
授予学位:理学学士。

Education 0bjective:The program aims to facilitate the all-round development of our students, with an emphasis on training high-level geography professionals who are practice-oriented and creative.Graduates will have a good command of the basic theory and practice in geography science,geology,remote sensing and geographic information system.Also,they are familiar with technology of reconstruction of palaeo-environment.Therefore,more than half of our graduates will get the opportunity to further pursue a higher degree in geosciences in research institutes or institutions of higher learning with or without the national entrance examination.Others can easily find a job in a wide range of teaching,research,technical development,managing and other relevant domains.
Graduation Requirements
1.Master the basic theories of mathematics,physics,chemistry,earth sciences and computer skills.Master a foreign language with proficiency in terms of listening,speaking,reading and writing to ensure a fluent communication.Master at least one advanced computer language.
2.Master fundamental theories and practices in geography science and quaternary geology to be able to handle the issues concerning the earth surface system.
3.Master the computer operation skills involving text,images,and other data processing in geographical science research.

Lab Experiments:Experiment of Remote Sense Applications,Experiment of GIS Techniques.
Practical Work:Primary Geological Field Training(Beidaihe,North China),Geographic and Geological Field Training(Zhoukoudian,North China and Zigui,South China),Practice for Graduation and Thesis Writing,about 20 weeks in total.
Duration:four years.
