以木为材料的建构文化是世界各文明中的基本成分，中国的木建构文化更是深厚而丰富。在全球可持续发展要求之下，木建构文化必须得到重新的认识和评价。对于中国建筑文化来说，更具有文化传统再认识和再发展的意义。

文化的个性和差异并不仅仅存在于建筑的形态之中，更体现在建构的过程之中。“木建构文化研究”从木材的基本材料特性出发，研究通过木材的连接而形成的木建构的形态，探索以此构成各种功能目的的营造物。从木构的结构造型可以看出，构件的分解、组合有可能更充分地发挥木材的材质特性，从而突破传统木构的高度与跨度之限制。通过不同文化中的木建构对比，有助于建筑师理解木建构文化的意义。

The tectonic culture based upon wood material is the fundamental part of various civilizations in the world,while the wooden tectonic culture in China has been relatively richer. The wooden tectonic culture must be redefined and revaluated along with the global sustainable development. For Chinese architectural culture,it would be meaningful to redefine and redevelop cultural tradition in China.

The cultural significance and differentiation should not only be shown in the form of architecture,but also expressed in the process of tectonic.“Studies in Wooden Tectonic Culture” started from the basic element of wooden material,is to study about the wooden tectonic components through the connection of wooden pieces,and to explore various functioned constructions. The recognition could be reached based upon a review of the development of wooden structure forms in the world,the characteristic of timber material would be more liberated just with the dissembling and assembling of elements,therefore it is happened the breakthrough of the limitation of traditional wooden structure. It would be great helps for architects to understand the meaning of wooden culture,just with comparative studies between different wooden cultures.

Task:

To design a wooden construction system,which allows the people to construct themselves,after disasters like earth-quake,with rapid construction,low cost,easy manufacturing and transferring. The wood is selected for this shelter. The shelter will be made by basic unit with certain area,but has the potential to develop itself or to develop with multi-units in future.
