学名：Coturnixjaponica
英名：Japanese Quail
形态：小型鸡类，体长14-20cm。翅长而尖，尾短，上体具褐色与黑色横斑及皮黄色矛状长条纹。下体皮黄色，胸及两胁具黑色条纹。头具条纹及近白色的长眉纹。夏季雄鸟脸、喉及上胸栗色。
虹膜红褐色；嘴灰色；脚肉棕色。
分布：除新疆、西藏外，各省均有分布。在保护区属很常见的旅鸟。
习性：栖息于平原草地、低山丘陵等处，喜谷物田地和草地。性善隐蔽。迁徙期多集群。主要以植物性食物为食。
