have sb. over表示“把某人请到家里来”，例如：We had some friends over for dinner last night．我们昨天晚上邀请朋友来共进晚餐。
have over用作“邀请（某人）来自己办公室或家里拜访”，可以用不同的介词来替换这个短语。例如：have by是从stop by（拜访）延伸而来，所以have by就是have (someone) stop by的意思。
