形态：中型鸟类，体长26-28cm。上体灰褐色，密杂以黑褐色和灰白色虫蠹斑。颏、喉黑褐色，下喉具大型白斑；胸灰白色，密杂以黑褐色虫蠢斑和横斑，腹和两胁棕黄色，密杂以黑褐色横斑。外侧尾羽具白色端斑。
虹膜褐色；嘴黑色；脚棕褐色。
分布：除西北部分外，大部分地区有分布。在保护区属很常见的夏候鸟和旅鸟。
习性：夜行性，白天多蹲伏于林中草地或卧伏于树干上，飞行快速而无声，主要在飞行中捕食，嘴可张开很大。主要以昆虫为食。
