如何写出含有同义词的句子?

一、要想写出含有同义词的英语句子,首先要了解其中的三个写作规律

其一,在含有同义词的句子中,两个互为同义词的词其词性可以一致也可以不同。

(1)We have but one aim and one single,irrevocable(不可改变的)purpose.

(2)Living standards soared during the twentieth century,and economists expect them to continue rising in the decades ahead.

(3) While most of the main languages of South and East Asia are now full of loanwords from English,most English speakers also regard these words“tofu”and “Kung fu”as“foreign”.

例(1)中aim和purpose的词性均为名词;例(2)中soared和rising的词性同为动词。但例(3)中的同义词loanwords和foreign的词性则分别为名词和形容词。

其二,互为同义词的部分其字数可以相等也可以不等。

(4)One of the predominant concerns today is the future of our natural resources. This issue is of greatest importance because it is becoming clear to many people that our present resources will not last forever.

(5)Although he did not say so directly,he implied the man was guilty.

例(4)中互为同义词的部分是predominant和of greatest importance,前者只

有一个字,而后者却有三个字。在例(5)中,not say so directly和implied互为同义词,但前者有四个字,而后者仅有一个字。

其三,两个词在字典里不一定是同义词,但在特定的上下文中如果构成了同

义词的关系时也可视为是同义词。

(6) George Gershwin's versatility was remarkable. His serious works were composed at the same time as he was producing popular songs.

在字典里,compose一词有“作曲”之意,而produce一词却没有。但从语境中理解不难看出,George Gershwin的多才多艺恰恰就表现在他为严肃音乐作曲的同时也为流行歌曲作曲。毫无疑问,compose和produce在此句中互为同义词。

二、训练方法

第一步:随意写出一个有可能有同义词的单词。注意:所选的单词最好是动词、名词、形容词或副词

第二步:为该词写出一个同义词。两个词的词性可以一致也可以不同。

第三步:用所写出的单词及它的同义词造句。可以将他们造在同一个句子里,也可以造在前后两个句子里。

现举一例。先写出一个单词: try,然后再写出它的同义词: attempt,最后造句时将这两个词都用上,这样就写出了含有同义词的句子。

The prisoner tried to escape,but he failed his attempt.

或:With an attempt to pass the exam,I try to read a lot of books.

三、在动笔的实践过程中会出现的种种问题

1.句子中没有出现同义词。

(×)When she listens to pleasant music,she feels happy.

此句中,pleasant和happy分别为“使人感到愉快的、讨人喜欢的”和“本人感到愉快、高兴的”之意。因此,两词并非同义词。

2.不注意局部与整体的关系。

(×) Stress may cause high blood pressure.

虽然stress和pressure互为同义词,但high blood pressure在此句中是一个意群,因此与stress之间就构不成同义词的关系了。

3.在写含有同义词的句子时还要考虑符合英语的习惯搭配。

(×) Because of the lack of water supply,the government provides many new measures to solve the problem.

很显然,该学生在尝试用supply和provide这一对同义词造句。但英语中“采取措施”的习惯搭配是take measures,而不是provide measures。

4.为用同义词而用同义词,写出的句子不符合英语的表达习惯。

(×) You have your opinion,and I have my idea.

按照英语的表达习惯,以上这句话应改成: You have your opinion,and I have mine.

(×) The little boy got a lot of gifts on his birthday,but he thought that his mother's kiss was the most beautiful present.

在此句中,present一词习惯上用one来替代。

(×) Grasp every opportunity when the chance is coming.

修改后的句子可以是Grasp every opportunity when it is coming.或Grasp every coming opportunity.

遗憾的是,以上经过修改后的句子都没有同义词了。但通过练笔实践,我们不难发现,只有遵循顺势自然的原则才能写出含有同义词的精彩句子。

四、学生习作欣赏

(1)While some people seek fame and wealth,others pursue knowledge and truth.

(2)It's hard to achieve a dream. But once you've fulfilled it,you will feel proud.

(3) Facing various opportunities,I find that the more alternatives there are,the more difficult it is for me to make a choice.

(4)He wants to travel the world,but he is not ready for the trip yet.

(5)Where there is a fun teacher,there is an interesting course.

(6)Bothered by the children playing outside,the writer closed all the doors and windows to avoid the disturbance.

(7)I'm waiting for her reply,but I haven't received a response yet.

(8)The medicine not only alleviates the pain in Mary's broken leg,but also relieves her stress.

(9)Cheating on this exam will not only harm your credibility but also jeopardize your future.

(10)He is a reliable person,so we all trust him.

总之,只要有意识地使用并用好同义词,就会让写出的英语句子从呆板走向活泼,从拘谨走向自然。
