汤显祖莎士比亚文化高峰论坛在遂昌隆重举行

在汤显祖-莎士比亚文化高峰论坛暨汤显祖和晚明文化学术研讨会上的致辞

尊敬的戴安娜·欧文会长，卡萨齐专员，各位领导，各位专家，女士们，先生们：

阳春四月，繁花似锦，生机盎然，在这充满希望的季节，八方宾朋相聚在金山林海、仙县遂昌，隆重举行“汤显祖-莎士比亚文化高峰论坛暨汤显祖和晚明文化学术研讨会”。在此，我谨代表中共遂昌县委、遂昌县人民政府，对各位领导、各位专家学者和各界朋友的到来表示最热烈的欢迎和最诚挚的感谢!

400多年前，世界文化史上诞生了两位璀璨耀眼的巨星——汤显祖和莎士比亚，汤公和莎翁创造的文化成为了人类共同的精神财富。汤显祖是中国伟大的文学家、戏剧家，他于1593年至1598年在遂昌任知县，其仁政惠民，劝农耕作，教化民众，清正廉洁，对遂昌这片土地倾注了深情，不惜用最美的语言来赞美遂昌，称遂昌为“仙县”，誉自己为“仙令”。正是主政遂昌的五年，成就了其一生的辉煌，创作了世界文学史上的不朽篇章《牡丹亭》，以此为引领，开创了学术思想开放、文化艺术包容的晚明文化时代。

威廉·莎士比亚被誉为西方最伟大的诗人和戏剧家，他的作品对世界文化影响深远，为世界各国人民所传诵，吸引了包括中国在内的亿万读者观众的目光。汤显祖和莎士比亚同年仙逝，他们的作品吸收了东西方文化之精髓，集现实主义和浪漫主义之大成，超越了时代和国家的界限，给人以无穷的审美享受，闪耀出永恒的理想光辉，成为世界文化艺术的宝贵财富，汤显祖和莎士比亚也成为世界上最具影响力和最受人景仰的文化名人。

近年来，遂昌县围绕“经营山水、统筹城乡，全面建设长三角休闲旅游名城”发展战略，依托“汤显祖、《牡丹亭》、昆曲”三大世界文化品牌，着力打造“《牡丹亭》原创圣地”和“汤显祖研究中心”，先后成立汤显祖研究会、汤显祖文化传承学校，建成汤显祖纪念馆，制定汤显祖文化发展规划，连续举办了多届汤显祖文化节，并成功将“昆曲·遂昌十番”和“班春·劝农”列入国家级非物质文化遗产保护名录。在汤显祖文化的引领下，县域特色文化体系初步成形，乡村休闲旅游业强势推进，文化惠民和城乡文明互动进一步加快，遂昌的发展活力倍增，县域综合实力迅速提升，长三角休闲旅游名城建设进程全面加快。

文化是人类心灵沟通和情感交流的桥梁，不同的地域环境造就了不同的文化底蕴，而不同文化的相互影响、相互交融、相互促进，推动了人类文明的进步。我们深刻感受到，在经济全球化、文化多元化的今天，文化推动经济社会和谐发展的作用日益显现。去年6月份，我县与浙江大学人文学院联合组团赴莎士比亚故里英国斯特拉夫德市开展了为期10天的文化交流访问活动，就加强双方的交流合作形成广泛共识。

这次莎士比亚出生地基金会、艾文学院、伦敦大学亚非学院专家的组团来访，以及汤显祖-莎士比亚文化高峰论坛的举办又为双方搭建了一个新的重要平台，架起双方沟通的桥梁，我们希望以此为纽带，更加广泛、深入、持久地开展汤显祖和莎士比亚文化的交流，推动政府和民间机构的互动，推进文化产业和旅游经济的合作。

我们深信，在各位领导、各位专家、各位嘉宾的关心、支持和帮助下，通过此次高峰论坛的举办，必将进一步提升汤显祖文化的影响力，让中国乃至世界更好地了解遂昌、认识遂昌，促进以乡村休闲旅游为引领、一二三产统筹协调发展的山区发展新格局的构建，实现遂昌的绿色发展、生态富民、科学跨越。

最后，预祝“汤显祖-莎士比亚文化高峰论坛暨汤显祖和晚明文化学术研讨会”取得圆满成功! 祝愿汤显祖文化和莎士比亚文化交流合作结出丰硕成果！预祝大家在遂昌期间论有所悟，游有所得，身体健康，心情愉快!

Speech at Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare

Cultural Exchange and Cooperation Summit Forum

Distinguished Chair Ms. Diana Owen, all the leaders, experts, ladies and gentlemen:

The spring April sees the blossom of flowers and overflowing of vigor. At this promising season, our friends from all directions get together at the county of golden mountains and fairyland Suichang to observe the grand opening of Summit Forum on Tang Xianzu-Shakespeare cultue ＆ Symposium on Tang Xianzu and Late Ming Culture. On this occasion, please allow me to represent China Suichang Communist Party Committee and Suichang People’s Government and extend our warmest welcome and sincerest thanks to all the leaders, experts, scholars and friends present here.

Over four hundred years ago, two splendid superstars in the world history of literature were born. They were Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare. The culture created by them has become the common wealth of mankind. Tang Xianzu was a great man of letters and playwright. He was the county magistrate of Suichang from 1593 to 1598. He held benevolent policies to his people and encouraged farmers to work in the fields. He also set up schools to educate the local people. He was upright and honest in his administration work. He devoted deep feelings to Suichang and spoke highly of Suichang. He called Suichang a fairyland and entitled himself as the governor of the fairyland county. It was his five-year governing in Suichang that provided him chances to achieve his glory. He created the classic play in the world literature history: The Peony Pavilion. The play marks the beginning of the Late Ming Culture, which is famous for its openness to different academic thoughts and tolerance for varied art forms.

William Shakespeare is hailed as the greatest poet and playwright in the western world. His works exerted great influence on the world culture and were widely read by the people all over the world. His works won billions of readers including Chinese readers. Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare passed away in the same year and both of their works absorbed the marrow of their own culture. Their works incorporate the realism and romanticism, surpass the limits of the time and boundaries, give their readers endless aesthetic enjoyment, shine with the eternal lights of dreams and have become the valuable treasures of world culture. Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare have both become the cultural celebrities with great influence and admiration in the world.

In recent years, Suichang focuses on its developing strategy to exploit mountains and waters, to combine rural and urban areas and to build a famous tourism city in Yangzi River Delta in an all-round way. Based on its three world-famous cultural brands Tang Xianzu, The Peony Pavilion and Kun Opera, it took great efforts to build the original shrine of The Peony Pavilion and the Research Center of Tang Xianzu. And the Research Association of Tang Xianzu, Tang Xianzu Culture School and Tang Xianzu Memorial Museum have been established. We also formulated the development plans for Tang Xianzu culture and held Tang Xianzu culture festivals for years consecutively. It also succeeded in getting two Kun Operas “Suichang Shifan” and “Banchun Quannong” into the protection list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Under the guidance of Tang Xianzu culture, the special cultural system of the county has come into its preliminary shape. Its relaxing tourism in rural areas has been greatly promoted and the interaction between urban and rural civilization has been quickened. The developing potential of Suichang has been greatly expanded. Its comprehensive strength has been rapidly enhanced. The construction process to build a famous tourism city in Yangzi River Delta is speeding all-round.

Culture is the bridge for us to communicate our feelings and hearts. Different geographic environments will cultivate different cultures. And the inter-influence, interaction and interpromotion of different cultures promote the progress of civilization. We are deeply affected that under at the present times of economic globalization and cultural multiplication, the cultural function in pushing the harmonious development of economy and society is becoming stronger and stronger. Last June, a delegation comprised by members from Suichang and School of Humanity in Zhejiang University paid a ten-day cultural visiting in Shakespeare’s hometown, Stratford upon Avon in England and reached a consensus on further cooperation in cultural exchanges of the two sides.

Now the delegation of experts from Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Upon College and Asia African School of London University and the holding of Summit Forum on Tang Xianzu-Shakespeare Culture set up a new important platform and communication bridge for both sides. We hope we can carry out a wider, deeper and ongoing communication on Tang Xianzu’s and Shakespeare’s cultures through this bond, which will push forward the interaction between the government organizations and non-government institutions, and promote the cooperation between cultural industry and tourism economy. We deeply believe with the help and concern of all the leaders, experts and honored guests, the summit forum will surely further the influence of Tang Xianzu’s culture and let China and even the whole world know more about Suichang. It will also promote the construction of the new development scheme in mountain areas. That is the coordinated development of the first, second and third industries under the support of rural relaxing tourism industry. Suichang will develop in an environment-friendly way, make its inhabitants rich with exploiting its ecological resources and achieve its breakthroughs in development scientifically.

Finally, I’d like to wish a great success to Summit Forum on Tang Xianzu-Shakespeare Culture and Symposium on Tang Xianzu and Late Ming Culture in advance. I wish fruitful achievements will be made from the exchanges and cooperation of Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare Cultures. I wish everybody will gain new favourite thoughts in the forums, happiness in your traveling, and be healthy and well during your stay in Suichang.
